Women in African Linguistics
Researcher: PD Dr. Helma Pasch
This monograph examines the role of women in the early field of African studies. On the one hand, women were able to work in academia, albeit under far more difficult conditions than men. On the other hand, they were able to conduct linguistic work in Africa as missionaries. But even here, they faced significantly less favorable conditions than their male counterparts. A number of lectures and essays have already been produced as part of this work, while others are still in preparation.
